VRTherm in the petrochemical industry |
|
|
|
Through the ALSOC Project, several petrochemical companies and universities are now using VRTherm as the thermodynamic source for the development of rigorous process models.
The ALSOC Project, which is managed by Rio Grande do Sul Federal
University, is an academy-industry approximation effort where software
tools and specifications are standarized and shared between companies
and universities that integrate the project.
ALSOC main goals are:
- To develop, to maintain and to share specifications of a modelling language.
- To develop, to maintain and to share a library of general
models for synthesis, simulation, optimization and control of
industrial processes
- To
develop, to keep and to share state-of-art software for industrial processes modelling,
simulation, optimization and control.
- To certify the conformity of external solutions with the developed standards and to incorporate them to the project.
VRTech provides to the ALSOC project a
complete package for advanced thermodynamics calculations. VRTherm has
a data base with more than 1900 components and allows the prediction of
physical and thermodynamic properties of complex mixtures.
The ALSOC Project is composed by several Brazilian universities and seven big petrochemical companies:
- Petrobrás
- Braskem
- Copesul
- REFAP
- Innova
- Ipiranga
- Petroquímica Triunfo
- UFRGS
- COPPE
- USP
- UFBA
